In rounds up to with the Fourth Round Proper, fixtures resulting in a draw after the standard time (ninety-minute) go to a replay, played at the away venue of the opponents. If still, the repetition is tied, the winner is decided by extra time (thirty-minute), and if still necessary, a penalty shootout kicked.
Arsenal won the FA Cup most of the 14 times, followed by Manchester United (12). The English FA Cup saw 44 champions in its 141 seasons. Twenty-two teams won the cup only once, and 14 teams reached the final but could not win.
Ashley Cole won the FA Cup most seven times as a player of Arsenal three-time and Chelsea four-time. Harry Cursham scored the most 50 goals in the competition. Andy Locke did the fastest hat-trick in 2 min 20 sec for Nantwich Town against Droylsden in 1995.
