League Two is the third-tier competition and the lowest division in the EFL (English Football League). It is the fourth-highest division overall in the English football league system.
The English football authorities felt the need for a lower division competition in 1956 when the current competition known as League One was transformed from Division 3 North / South into Division 3 of the entire English football league system.
With this need in thought, the 4th division was added to the English Football Pyramid for the first time in 1958 and continued for the next 24 years. When the Premier League emerged in 1992 as part of a reorganization of the English Football League system, the current League One became the Football League Third Division. This League Two became the Football League Fourth Division, which lasted until 2004.
Another round of branding in the 2004–05 season saw the Premier League and English Football League compete separately. With 72 lower-level teams split into three divisions of the English Football League (EFL) into three divisions, the English Football League Championship, the English Football League One, and the English Football League Two, and started playing in EFL competitions. At the end of each season, 72 teams from these three divisions of the EFL are replaced by promotion-relegation systems at the top of the table and the bottom.
There are 24 clubs in English League Two. Each contestant club plays each of the other contestant clubs two-time (once at the home stadium and once away stadium). According to the rules, each winning team gets 1 point for each winning match, where no losing points are added to the losing team's book, but if the match is drawn, both sides get one point.
Whenever any regular season finishes, the top 3 teams in the points table and the winning team in the playoffs among the teams. It ended in the fourth to seventh positions and earned a promotion to participate in League One. And are replaced by the four bottom teams of League One.
Unlike, the two teams that ended at the bottom of League Two got demotion to the National League and are replaced by the top two teams and one ply-off winner of that division.
According to the rules and conditions of the league, the team that does not get the highest position is selected depending on the points earned, goal difference, and goals scored. But if more than one team stays in the same place on these issues for some reason, the champion is selected through a playoff series game.
Chesterfield has won the title (current plus previous version) highest four times. A total of 45 teams have won the title from its starting in 1958.
