History of Levante

Levante UD was officially registered as Levante Football Club on 9 September 1909. Levante Union Deportiva has the eastern region of the Iberian Peninsula as its exact name.Levante is the east coast of Spain, where the sun always rises. Levante UD is the most senior professional football club in the autonomous community of Valencia. Valencia CF has the local rivals with Levante UD.In 1935, the Second Division football league was expanded from 10 teams to 24. And in the following seasons, 1934–35, Levante got a chance to play in the Second Division.Levante won the Campeonato Levante-Sur titles in 1935. It was a competition that featured Valencia, Andalusia, and Murcia teams. Through this competition, Levante subsequently reached the semi-finals of the Spanish Cup, consecutively beating Valencia and Barcelona before losing to eventual runners-up Sabadell.Levante could not play in La Liga before the 1960s. Defeating Deportivo de La Coruña 4–2 on aggregate, Levante finished runner-up in the Second Division from Group II. And finally, Levante got promoted to La Liga in 1963.
