History of Nantes
The club's history began in 1943 through an amalgamation of five local small clubs. After World War II, the clubs started playing football professionally but did not manage to gain promotion to the top division before 1963.
During this time, the club started developing its "jeu à la nantaise" style of playing football, primarily thanks to their coach José Arribas at that time. The new style quickly moved them to gain complete success. As a result, Nantes went on to win two Ligue 1 titles in 1965 and 1966 in a row.
Nantes continued to participate at the top-flight throughout the 70s and the 80s, winning four additional Ligue 1 titles and their first Coupe de France between 1973 and 1983.

The visual identity designs of Nantes from 2019 are totally different from all the previous versions. The current crest is a green or white shield with an enlarged stylized letter "N" on it.
