Osasuna is a Spanish professional football club in Pamplona, Navarre. Osasuna’s full name is Club Atlético Osasuna (in English: Osasuna Athletic Club), simply known as CF Osasuna or Osasuna.

History of Osasuna

24 October 1920 is the foundation date of CF Osasuna. The club’s name, Osasuna, was chosen by Benjamín Andoian Martínez. In 1928, Osasuna was started to play in the third division since Spanish football became professional.

Osasuna won the playoff against Nacional de Madrid and gained promotion to the Segunda División after the 1931–32 season. The club made it to La Liga three seasons later.

In that same season, Osasuna played the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey and lost to Sevilla. In the 1932-33 season, Osasuna reached the semi-finals again and won in the first leg against Barcelona. But this time, the club lost in the second leg and lost the dream of the final.

After opening the El Sadar Stadium in September 1967, Osasuna's played a match with Vitoria de Setubal, and the hosts won 3–0. In the 1985–86 season, the club achieved its first-ever UEFA Cup qualification after finishing sixth in the league.

In the 2002–03 season of the Copa del Rey, Osasuna reached the semi-finals for the first time since 1988. And the club was knocked out after losing to Recreativo de Huelva 4–2 on aggregate.

Osasuna CF won four Segunda Division titles in 1952–53, 1955–56, 1960–61, and 2018–19 while they became runners-up in the Segunda Division in 1934–35, 1939–40, 1999–2000.

Osasuna lifted the Tercera Division trophy seven times in 1931–32, 1947–48, 1948–49, 1968–69, 1971–72, 1974–75, and 1976–77. The reds also became the Copa del Rey runners-up in 2004-05.
