History of Miami Dolphins

Founded on 16 August 1965 by attorney-politician Joe Robbie and actor-comedian Danny Thomas, the team started to play in AFL in 1966. The area had not had a professional football club since the days of the Miami Seahawks. They played in the All-America Football Conference in 1946 before becoming the first incarnation of the Baltimore Colts.

The Dolphins have done their full-time training camp and practice facilities at Saint Andrew's School, located in Boca Raton for the first few years. Miami joined the NFL due to the 1970 AFL–NFL merger.

The team appeared in its first Super Bowl games in Super Bowl VI, losing the games against the Dallas Cowboys, 24–3. The following year, the team completed the NFL's only perfect season, peaking in a Super Bowl win, winning all fourteen matches of their regular-season games and three playoff games, including Super Bowl VII.

They were the third NFL team to complete a perfect regular season and the first team to do so after the AFL-NFL merger, the period known as the Super Bowl era. The Miami Dolphins won Super Bowl VIII the following year, becoming the first American football team to play in three consecutive Super Bowls. And they are the second team (the first AFL/AFC team) to win a back-to-back championship. Miami also played in Super Bowl XVII and Super Bowl XIX, losing both games.

In 2008, the Dolphins became the first American team in NFL history to win their division title and make a playoff appearance following a league-worst 1–15 season.

Club logo and Uniform of Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins revealed a completely new logo and new uniforms shortly before the 2013 NFL Draft. The Miami Dolphins' new logo features a stylized aqua dolphin swimming in front of a widely modified version of the orange sunburst. The logo's dolphin looks more vague and artistic and is not wearing a helmet as it is simply a silhouette of a dolphin cast in aqua and navy.

The team made slight modifications to the logo and uniform set in 2018. The orange shade and aqua were tweaked, and navy blue was removed from the color scheme, only remaining on the logo.

For a few select games, the Dolphins brought back their 1970s aqua uniforms in 2015. They brought back a white version from the same era as a second alternate uniform four years later. The aqua throwbacks were worn during the now-famous 2018 Miracle in Miami play against the Patriots.
