Bristol City's long history began in 1894 when the club was initially established as Bristol South End. The club started to play football professionally in 1897 and changed its name to Bristol City.
In 1900, the club merged with the local team Bedminster FC to form a strong enough team for the city to compete in Sothern League. After the successful merging, the club became the only third club of south Birmingham to be granted into the Football League.
The club gained 14 successive victories in Division 2, a joint-record held with Manchester United and Preston North. They permanently moved to Ashton gate in 1904 and host home games on this ground from then to this day.
In terms of trophies won until the start of World War II, the club could boast two Third Division titles, one Second Division title, and an FA Cup runners-up honors from 1909. Since then, the club has won two more Third Division championships and what is now known as the EFL Trophy.
The club started playing in the top tier in 1976 under Alan Dick's management, and they finally ended their 65-year outcast from the First Division. Four years later, they have suffered three relegations to the Fourth Division.
Red and White are the club's home colors. The current badge of the Bristol City Football Club features A Robin on a ball and the club's foundation year "1894" set on the left side of the Robin.
The badge is a thick red outlined circular shape and a bold red outline into the body—the word "BRISTOL" on the top and "CITY" at the bottom.
The Players wear a home kit of a red shirt with white shorts and a pair of red shocks. They also have a black kit for away use.
Nigel Pearson is the current boss of Bristol. He will be hoping Austrian attacking midfielder Andreas Weimann, the fourth most goal scorer with 16 goals and eight assists, and impressive young English forward Antoine Semenyo, among other talents in the squad, can help Bristol City this season.
Bristol City won Football League Trophy three-time, Welsh Cup one-time, and Anglo-Scottish Cup one-time. John Atyeo scored most 351 goals, and Louis Carey played most 646 appearances for the club.
On 24 April 1909, Bristol City reached the 1909 FA Cup Final for the first time in any major competition. But Bristol lost the final 0-1 against Manchester United.
Bristol won the 1986 Associate Members' Cup Final 3-0 victory over Bolton Wanderers at Wembley Stadium, London.
