Scottish Cup is a professional association knock-out football competition for men's football clubs in Scotland. Though it is commonly known as the Scottish Cup, The Scottish Football Association Challenge Cup is the full official name of the competition.
The competition was started in 1873-74 seasons. There were 113 full membership clubs and eight associate membership clubs of the Scottish Football Association (SFA).

The Scottish Football Association was established in 1873, and the Scottish Cup was created as a yearly competition for all its members. The first match of the Scottish Cup took place on 18 October 1873, when Renton defeated Kilmarnock 2–0 in the first round.
In the competition's early years, the competition was dominated by Queen's Park, who won the final ten times in the first twenty years. Vale of Leven, Dumbarton, and Renton was also successful during this time. In 1885, the record victory in the tournament was recorded when Arbroath defeated Bon Accord 36–0 in a first-round match.

Celtic and Rangers have ended runners-up on more occasions than any other club, with 18 losses in the final. St Johnstone is the most recent winner of the Scottish Cup, defeating Hibernian 1–0 in the 2021 final.
Heart of Midlothian eight-time, Aberdeen seven-time won the competition. Hibernian, Kilmarnock, Vale of Leven, St Mirren, and Clyde have won the Scottish Cup three times. Dundee United, Motherwell, Third Lanark, Falkirk, Dunfermline Athletic, Renton, and St Johnstone have won twice.
There are eight teams who have been able to earn this honor at least once, and they are Dumbarton, Dundee, Airdrieonians, East Fife, Greenock Morton, Partick Thistle, Inverness Caledonian Thistle, and St Bernard's.
